Docs Importing trades
TopstepX connection
Sync your TopstepX accounts with an API key: what it needs, costs and imports.
Connect TopstepX and the closed trades of your Combine, Express Funded and Practice accounts land in the journal automatically, every few minutes.
What you need
- ▸API access from TopstepX. TopstepX charges for it separately: $29 a month, $14.50 with the code
topstep, billed by ProjectX. Subscribe in the ProjectX dashboard, then link the subscription in TopstepX underSettings → API. - ▸An API key. In TopstepX,
Settings → API → Add API Key. Copy it when it is shown. - ▸Your TopstepX username — the name you sign in with, not your email address.
Connect
- ▸
Connections → TopstepX→ Add a TopstepX login: enter the username and the key. Tradelyst checks them with TopstepX before saving anything; the key is stored encrypted. - ▸Map accounts. Pick which TopstepX account feeds which trading account in Tradelyst, or create one. Only mapped accounts are imported. Accounts TopstepX no longer shows as active (a failed Combine) stay out of the list unless mapped.
- ▸Backfill history. Set a date on the mapping, or “Backfill all” on the connection page — start on a day you were flat.
What gets imported
- ▸Only complete trades: a position lands once it is flat again, as one trade with scale-ins and scale-outs merged at the average entry and exit.
- ▸Fees and commissions come with every fill, so net P&L is exact.
- ▸Stops: TopstepX reports a stop you moved only where it ended up, so a trade gets its stop — and its R — only from an Auto OCO bracket, where the first stop is known. Trades with Position Brackets (the TopstepX default) or a stop placed by hand come in without a stop; add it in the trade.
- ▸A trade uploaded as CSV and synced lands once, whichever came first, and a trade you logged by hand merges with the synced copy.
- ▸A trade you delete stays deleted — the sync won't bring it back.
- ▸Your plan limits how many accounts sync; accounts beyond it are skipped, and the mapping table says which.
Good to know
- ▸Tradelyst only reads with the key: it never places, changes or cancels an order. The key itself would allow trading — keep it as private as a password, and revoke it in TopstepX if it leaks.
- ▸Live Funded accounts aren't on the TopstepX API. Bring those in by CSV: the trades export from TopstepX at
/import. - ▸Trading Combines get their firm rules from the account name — size, target, max loss limit and consistency target, with the daily loss limit named when you bought one. For Express Funded accounts, set the rules yourself in the account's settings.
- ▸If TopstepX refuses the key (revoked, subscription ended, agreements to accept), the sync stops and you get an email. Enter a new key on the connection page, or fix it in TopstepX and press Sync now.
The sync uses a small part of your TopstepX API allowance (about 200 requests a minute, shared with your own tools on the same key).
